Pair of spiral courting candle holders signed Germany
Great pair of spiral courting candle holders signed Germany. These are c. 1915-1920 reproductions of early 1800s candle holders with handles for easy transport. Each has a steel cup with a handle, also known as a slide, to move up and down inside the spiral to raise and lower the candle. These are made of steel with a black coat and show a few chips from age. In addition, the three feet are connected to the base with rivets. The candle holders also have some wax droplets that we decided to leave in place. It’s unusual to find these oldies, and even more unusual to find a signed pair in such great condition! They’d be perfect as candle holders and even better as conversation pieces! Click on this link for a brief history of courting candle holders. Measure 7″ high by 6 3/4″ wide including the handle.
