Reproduction wind-up candle lamp
This reproduction wind-up candle lamp would be a great decorator or conversation piece! 1920s copy of a pre-1825 candle lamp with single-strand wick. Also has a finger loop for carrying, and its own candle snuffer. Stamped “SPAIN” on underside of brass base. I also recently learned that these were referred to as “wax jacks”. According to my informant, while these were sometimes used to provide light, they were more commonly used to create wax seals on letters, documents, etc. They were also used by soldiers for both purposes. Fascinating info! (Thanks, Adrienne!) Perfect for end table, mantle, bathroom counter, small shelf, etc. Measures 5 1/2″ high by 3 3/4’” diameter.
