White porcelain barn lantern
This vintage white porcelain barn lantern, c. 1930s, is showing its age, especially on the top of the shade. The original red paint on the arm constantly dripped on the white shade, creating a red stain (read “character”) on the top side of the shade. Some rust is visible along the rim on both sides of that red line. The inside, which was protected from the elements, is in very good condition. The fixture is rusty steel with much of its original red paint, which is flaking in places. The fitter cap is signed MULTI. The flange that attaches the lantern to the wall is a replacement. This fixture can handle the elements, so there’s no need to protect it under a porch roof or other overhang.
Perfect for a barn, garage, shed, back door, rustic cabin, etc. A wall switch is required to operate the fixture. It measures 7″ high by 14″ across the shade by 26″ deep. Rewired with ground wire added.
