Pair of mission style gas-electric sconces
This is a beautiful pair of difficult-to-find mission style gas/electric sconces. They’re all brass with rich patina, and the neck of each fitter ring is dated Feb 23 ’04. The glass shades are also mission style (square), and they are vintage to match the age of the sconces. We converted the gas arm on each sconce to electric so they can be used in today’s world. If you’d prefer, you can replicate the original look of these sconces by using a flicker bulb in the upward-facing gas arms for effect, OR you can use up to a 60W bulb or its equivalent in each socket.
Each sconce has one paddle switch that controls both arms. When you turn it the first time, one of the arms will light up. Turn it again, and that light will go out and the other one will come on. Turn it again for both lights to be lit, and turn it once more for both lights to turn off. You can also operate this sconce with a wall switch, and use the paddle switch to select the arms you’d prefer to be lit. These sconces provide lots of versatility!
These could work well in a dining room, living room, bedroom, library, flanking a fireplace or a bookcase, in an entryway, hallway, bathroom, etc. With the shades, each sconce measures 14 1/2″ tall by 6″ wide by 10″ deep. Each is rewired with a ground wire added to meet today’s electric codes.
