Unusual pair of 2+2 gas/electric sconces
This very unusual pair of 2+2 gas/electric sconces hail from c. 1890-1905. The fitter rings are dated Sept 23 ’90 (that’s 1890!) and marked Made in USA. The sconces are large and made of brass with a beautiful patina. We opted not to convert the gas arms, so they are aesthetic only. We rewired the electric arms and added a ground wire to bring them up to code. Each electric arm has a beautiful etched glass shade. We even have an extra one, which we’ll include at no additional charge. Always good to have a spare in case one breaks!
These fixtures can be operated at the sconces by the turn switches, or the switches can be placed in the ON position so you can use a wall switch to turn them on and off.
These would be perfect for a larger space, like a great room, a dining room, a living room, a large entryway, a library, master bedroom, large staircase, etc. With the shades, they measure 18 1/2″ wide by 16″ high by 14 1/2″ deep. The wall plate is 5″ in diameter, which is large enough to cover a standard junction box. As noted above, these are rewired with a ground wire added.
